Norfolk Southern Corporation

Norfolk Southern Corporation (NS) has entered into an agreement with Upside Software to better manage its Service Contracts function.

The selection of the UpsideBilling and UpsideContract software was made after an extensive review by a NS21 (Norfolk Southern for the 21st century) team looking for ways to streamline the service contract processing.

Norfolk Southern is a Virginia-based holding company with headquarters in Norfolk. It controls a major freight railroad, Norfolk Southern Railway Company, and owns a natural resources company, Pocahontas Land Corp., and a telecommunications company, Thoroughbred Technology and Telecommunications, Inc.

The railway operates 21,500 route miles in 22 eastern states, the District of Columbia and the province of Ontario. It serves 20 ports and connects with rail partners in the West and Canada, linking customers to markets around the world. Norfolk Southern provides comprehensive logistics services and offers the most extensive intermodal network in the East.

Upside will enable NS to develop a more flexible system for creating contracts, manage performance and facilitate change management. It will enable NS to better manage the change order process, provide detailed information on the rates, terms and conditions to the end-users in the field, advise when contracts are up for renewal, improve the risk management process and speed the processing of contract documents and invoices.
